Ecosystem Solutions Wins Grant to Assess the Effects of Shoreline Modification | Mar-2008
In partnership with Aberdeen Proving Ground, NAS Patuxent River, and Langley AFB, Ecosystem Solutions will be assessing the impacts of shoreline modification on fish and benthic communities and water quality. While many projects are ongoing to modify the shoreline of water bodies throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed, little work is being done to track the changes that these projects are likely to have on the aquatic environment. ESI, a leader in monitoring environmental changes, will work with the Department of Defense to determine the impacts of their actions. With this information, natural resource managers will be better able to tailor their shoreline projects minimize negative impacts and maximize the benefits their actions can have on the aquatic environment.
